In a somber incident reported on Sunday, November 26, 2023, the tranquil atmosphere of Thanthadi Beach near Visakhapatnam was disrupted as a 14-year-old boy, identified as Janagala Rajesh, went missing in the sea. The unfortunate turn of events occurred during an afternoon outing with friends when the young boy, a 9th-grade student at Zilla Parishad High School, Paravada, disappeared in the waters.
According to police reports, Rajesh and his friends, namely P Mokshagna, V Kalyan Chakravarthy, J Vinay, and S Kishore, arrived at Thanthadi Beach around 2:30 PM on Sunday. While the group engaged in a friendly game of cricket on the sandy shores, Rajesh and Mokshagna decided to take a swim in the sea. Tragically, strong tides swept the two boys away, leading to a desperate situation where control was lost, and Rajesh was unable to make it back to the shore.
Swiftly responding to the distress, their friends on the beach immediately rushed to their aid. Despite valiant efforts, only Mokshagna could be rescued from the tumultuous waters, leaving Rajesh missing. The news prompted a collective effort from the boy’s parents, local fishermen, and experienced swimmers who initiated an extensive search operation to locate the 14-year-old.
