In a shocking turn of events, a 23-year-old photographer from Madhurawada, Vizag, Pothina Sai, was found murdered after being lured to a place called Ravulapalem by another photographer Shanmukha Teja, from the East Godavari district. Sai, the son of an auto driver, was known for covering events around the city with his advanced technology cameras worth Rs 15 lakh.

Teja, 19, allegedly befriended Sai through a social media platform and discovered the valuable cameras in his possession. Devising a sinister plan, Teja invited Sai to Ravulapalem under the mask of jointly covering a major event to boost their careers in the movie industry. Sai, trusting Teja’s words, embarked on a journey to Rajamahendravaram on 26 February by bus.

Upon reaching Rajamahendravaram, Teja and an accomplice were ready with a car, and the trio set off for Ravulapalem. The situation took a dark turn when, in the midst of a tussle, Sai was allegedly strangled with a leather belt by Teja and his accomplice in an attempt to steal the valuable cameras. The perpetrators then buried Sai’s body to cover their tracks.

As suspicion arose, Sai, sensing foul play, sent a picture of the car’s rear view to his mother, Ramanamma, and informed her that he was with unknown individuals. Concerned when Sai did not return, Ramanamma tried reaching him but found his mobile switched off. Growing anxious, she filed a missing person report at the PM Palem Police Station.

The police, acting swiftly, collected crucial information and identified Teja as the prime suspect. Their investigation led them to Ravulapalem, where Teja was found missing. Interrogating Teja’s parents, the police discovered that he had locked the stolen cameras in a room.

Bringing Teja’s parents to Vizag for further questioning, the police intensified their search. With information that Teja had a girlfriend in Kancharapalem, they traced him through her, eventually taking him into custody. Teja, under questioning, confessed to the crime.

The body of Pothina Sai was handed over to his grieving family as the community grapples with the shocking betrayal that led to the untimely demise of a promising young photographer.
