Alert: Tiger Spotted in Gopalapuram Mandal, Residents Advised to Stay Indoors

Forest authorities have issued a cautionary notice following the sighting of a tiger near Peddapuram village in Gopalapuram mandal. According to Rajamahendravaram forest range officer L. Dhanaraju, the tiger was first seen near the right canal of the Polavaram project on Tuesday evening. By Wednesday morning, it had moved closer to the Devarapalli highway junction before changing direction. Dhanaraju stated, “We believe the tiger is heading towards the Papikondala sanctuary,” advising residents of nearby villages to remain vigilant and indoors after 5 p.m.

In particular, forest authorities have urged farmers to avoid entering their tobacco plantations. “We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of both the tiger and the public,” added Dhanaraju. Forest personnel and wildlife conservationists are monitoring the tiger’s movements using drones and camera traps, aiming to guide it safely back into the forest.
