APEPDCL Hosts Public Poll on Electricity Pricing

The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has initiated a public opinion poll regarding the annual revenue requirements and retail prices for the financial year 2024-2025. The poll, which began on Monday at the APEPDCL corporate office in Visakhapatnam, aims to gather input from residents regarding electricity charges.

Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Aperc), C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy, stated that there are no proposed increases in electricity charges for domestic consumers by distribution companies (discoms). He emphasized the importance of balancing consumer interests with the financial stability of power companies.

Nagarjuna Reddy explained that Aperc members will collect views on discoms specifically from Visakhapatnam until Wednesday. Additionally, opinions related to APGenco will be gathered via video conference from the electricity circle and division offices across the state.

Highlighting the commission’s dedication to consumer welfare, Nagarjuna Reddy assured that decisions for the upcoming financial year would prioritize maintaining a balance between consumer protection and the financial health of power companies.

He also discussed a 2021 amendment that enables automatic compensation for specified services, stressing its implementation and highlighting the compensation amounts distributed in recent years.

To ensure public participation, video conferences for inquiries are being conducted, with 71 individuals registering to express their views during the four-day program. On Monday, 17 participants from various parts of the state engaged in the public opinion polling program via video conference.

Power consumers are encouraged to access the live program until Thursday through the provided link, available from 10:30 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4:30 pm.

The initiative aims to involve residents in decisions regarding electricity charges and ensure transparency in the process.
