Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself laid the foundation stone for this ambitious project, signaling a significant step towards enhancing tourism in the region. The detailed project report is finalized, and the process of selecting the executing agency is underway.

Tourism officials are buzzing with enthusiasm about the proposed developments, which focus on three main areas: improving the sense of arrival, enhancing the cave precinct, and upgrading tourist facilities while beautifying the interior of the cave.

Some key highlights of the project include the establishment of a well-organized parking area for vehicles, introduction of electric vehicle shuttle services with charging points, and the addition of public convenience facilities near the cave entrance.

Moreover, plans are in place for a complete transformation of the market street surrounding the caves. This includes paved pedestrian pathways, clear signages, designated vending spots, and comfortable seating areas for visitors. An amenity building is also on the cards, which will house a visitor information centre, cafeteria, public conveniences, and a baggage counter.

Safety is a top priority, with upgrades planned for existing pathways and railings inside the cave. Additionally, visitors can look forward to a mesmerizing experience with projection mapping showcasing regional stories and culture, along with a curated light and sound show.

The recent 11th central sanctioning monitoring committee meeting discussed the detailed project design and costing, marking a significant step towards the realization of this transformation.

Borra Caves, known as the deepest caves in India and estimated to be over 150 million years old, hold immense historical and geological significance. With these upcoming changes, they are poised to become an even more enchanting destination for tourists from far and wide. Stay tuned for further updates as this exciting project unfolds!
