Andhra University’s Yoga and Consciousness Department Organizes Complimentary Ayurveda Yoga Retreats
Since December 2022, the Department of Yoga and Consciousness at Andhra University has been diligently hosting free Ayurveda yoga camps. Dr. OSRU Bhanu Kumar, the esteemed Honorary Director of the department, shared that these camps have already welcomed nearly 230 participants ranging in age from 35 to 80 years. The primary focus of these camps is to foster holistic well-being.
Every Thursday, a noteworthy event takes place as Dr. K Ishwar Rao, a retired professor hailing from KGH-AMC, leads a thorough follow-up assessment of patients. This reevaluation aids in tracking their progress and addressing any ongoing concerns.
The philosophy underlying Ayurveda emphasizes disease prevention as opposed to merely treating specific ailments. A significant observation from these camps is that approximately 32% of the attendees sought relief for musculoskeletal issues, highlighting the relevance of holistic health approaches.
The efforts of Andhra University’s Yoga and Consciousness Department are dedicated to spreading the benefits of Ayurveda and yoga, fostering well-being within the community. Through these complimentary retreats, participants are equipped with tools to enhance their overall health and lead a balanced life.
