Ganta Srinivasa Rao Set to Challenge Speaker's Decision in Court

Former minister and Telugu Desam MLA, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, announced on Wednesday that he plans to take legal action against the acceptance of his resignation by Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram. Rao had resigned from his MLA position on February 12, 2021, protesting the BJP-led central government’s decision to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Expressing his concern, Rao highlighted that although he had personally submitted his resignation to the speaker earlier, it was only accepted on Tuesday. He criticized the delay and accused the ruling YSR Congress party of having malicious intentions. Rao believes that this move is aimed at undermining Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and could lead to his downfall.

Rao expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the speaker did not consult him before accepting his resignation. He vowed to consult with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant employees and residents of the Vizag North constituency to determine the next steps in the ongoing struggle against the privatization of the steel plant.
