In a significant move towards enhancing digital governance and management competencies, IIM Visakhapatnam has initiated a specialized program for senior civil servants from various ministries and departments of the Union government and states. The program, sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, was inaugurated by Ajay Prakash Sawhney, former secretary of the Union ministry of electronics and information technology.
Addressing the audience, Sawhney emphasized the transformative power of modern-day technologies in bringing together diverse ecosystems onto a unified platform to address the needs of citizens. He highlighted the success of India in creating businesses with a focus on grassroots issues and real-world solutions that exhibit immense scalability.
The ‘digital governance and management’ program, attended by nearly 20 senior civil servants, including IAS and IPS officers, aims to equip participants with the skills needed for effective digital governance. The curriculum is designed to conceptualize and implement digital-transformation initiatives, making IIM Visakhapatnam a leading educational institution in the field.
During the inaugural session, Sawhney stressed the importance of leveraging the strengths of various government initiatives and recognizing India’s potential in building businesses for the global stage. He commended the nation’s ability to address real-life problems with scalable solutions.
IIM Visakhapatnam director Prof M Chandrasekhar outlined the institute’s commitment to capacity building for experienced government officers and professionals through its various hybrid program offerings. The ‘digital governance and management’ program is set to contribute significantly to enhancing the skills and knowledge of participants, ultimately benefiting society as a whole.
