After two years of investigation, the Anakapalle police have solved a case where a 16-year-old girl was kidnapped. The police team from Anakapalle, led by Inspector A Ravi Kumar, along with Constable P Narendra Kumar and Head Constable SV Ramakrishna from the ASR district, caught the person responsible and saved the girl from Bhubaneswar in Odisha on a Friday night.
The person who did this, Elusuri Prasad Babu (28), is from Rolugunta Mandal in Anakapalle district. He used to live in Guwahati, Assam, where his parents live. Even though he was married and had a child, he left them and came to Vizag. He stayed with his friend for a few weeks and then went to stay with another friend in a village in Anakapalle. There he became friends with the girl, who is a student in the middle grades. On July 13, 2021, he took her away without telling anyone.
The girl’s father complained to the police, and on July 15, 2021, the Anakapalle rural police started looking into the case. But the police couldn’t find the person who did this or the girl. Then, the head of the Anakapalle police, KV Murali Krishna, formed six groups of police to solve the case. These groups found some clues that led them to Bhubaneswar. The police said that the girl was taken to a faraway village in Kendrapara district in Odisha, where they stayed for more than a year. During this time, they didn’t use cell phones and stopped using social media. About six months ago, they went to the outskirts of Bhubaneswar city. There, the person who took the girl got a job in a private college. Within a week of moving to Bhubaneswar, the police caught the person and saved the girl.
The person who did this, Elusuri Prasad Babu, has been charged with breaking two laws, sections 363 and 367 of something called IPC, and other sections of a law called the POCSO Act. They charged him with these because the girl was not yet an adult when he took her away.
