In a distressing turn of events, a massive fire broke out at the Jaswanth readymade stores in Thagarapuvalasa, just a week after the tragic fire incident at the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. The blaze, which occurred during the late hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023, resulted in the complete destruction of the shopping mall, causing an estimated loss ranging from Rs 50 lakhs to one crore.

The fire reportedly ignited on the first floor of the Jaswanth readymade stores at 8 PM on Sunday, rapidly spreading throughout the entire building. Despite the immediate response of firefighting personnel, including one fire engine from Visakhapatnam and two from Vizianagaram, the flames could not be brought under control until midnight.

All the stock and materials within the store were reduced to ashes, marking a devastating blow to the business and resulting in significant financial losses. The actual causes of the fire are yet to be determined, as investigations are underway by Visakhapatnam Police officials. Bheemili Police Station CI Ramesh visited the accident site to examine the premises and gather information related to the incident.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the fire as the shopping mall had closed its doors by 8 PM on Sunday, coinciding with the observance of Karthika Pournami. The timely closure ensured the safety of individuals who might have otherwise been present inside the establishment during the incident.

The loss, however, extends beyond the financial realm, as local authorities now face the challenge of uncovering the root causes of the fire. As the investigation unfolds, questions regarding the adherence to fire safety regulations and potential preventive measures will likely come to the forefront.

The consecutive fire incidents in Visakhapatnam raise concerns about the safety protocols and emergency response mechanisms in public spaces. Authorities and local businesses are urged to reevaluate and reinforce safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. The community awaits further updates from the ongoing investigations to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fire at Jaswanth readymade stores in Thagarapuvalasa.
