On the night of the 13th of this month, a young woman from Paravada was taken into custody and placed in remand following her arrest. She addressed the media at the Parawada Police Station on Tuesday. Certain individuals have been circulating misleading information on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. They have claimed that the young woman was subjected to a sexual assault and that the police have not taken any action under the provisions of the Disha Act. However, it has now come to light that the incident is a case of eve-teasing rather than a sexual assault.
The sequence of events reveals that the young woman was walking alone at night on the 13th of this month when she accidentally dropped her earrings. While she was searching for her lost earrings, an individual named Akkineni Santhosh Kumar from Ramalayam Street approached her in a vehicle. He informed her that a complaint had been lodged against him alleging misconduct. As a result, the youth was taken into custody on Monday and subsequently remanded on Tuesday. In response to these developments, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) clarified that there is no validity to the accusations of sexual assault made against the young woman.
The situation was discussed in a meeting attended by Parawada Circle Inspector (CI) P. Iswara Rao, where these details were brought to light.
