Andhra Pradesh, January 18, 2024: In a recent official release, it has been confirmed that Professor P.V.G.D Prasad Reddy has been reappointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University for a second consecutive term. The announcement, endorsed by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S Abdul Naseer, solidifies Professor Reddy’s position at the helm of the prestigious university for another three years, commencing from January 17.
Professor Reddy, a distinguished academician and senior faculty member in the AU Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, first assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor on July 19, 2019. His initial term concluded on November 24, 2023. Notably, during his tenure, Professor Prasad Reddy established a team of Placement Officers, contributing to the successful placement of students in reputable organizations.
The period between the end of Professor Reddy’s first term and the recent reappointment witnessed Professor K Samatha taking charge as the Acting Vice-Chancellor. Prof Samatha admirably fulfilled the responsibilities for nearly 50 days until the decision to reappoint Professor Reddy was officially announced.
The selection process for the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University unfolded with the State Higher Education Department notifying the vacancy in June 2023. Invitations were extended to eligible professors nationwide to apply for the esteemed position. The response was overwhelming, with 127 candidates expressing their aspirations to lead one of the prominent academic institutions in the country.
