KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja Unavailable

In a major setback for Team India, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has confirmed that star players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul will be sidelined for the second Test against England in Vizag. The announcement comes on the heels of India’s defeat in the series opener in Hyderabad, compounding the challenges for the home side.

Jadeja’s absence is a result of a hamstring injury sustained during Day 4 of the first Test while attempting a quick single. Scans have officially ruled him out of the upcoming match. On the other hand, Rahul, experiencing right quadriceps pain, will also miss the crucial second Test. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring the recovery progress of both players.

To fill the void left by these injuries, the selection committee has introduced Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar to the squad for the second Test. Avesh Khan will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh, but remains on standby to join the Test squad if needed.

KL Rahul’s absence is particularly significant as it leaves a gap in the middle order, posing a challenge for India, given his experience and batting prowess. In addition to Rahul, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is already part of the squad as Jadeja’s replacement.

The updated Indian squad for the second Test includes: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar.

As Team India aims to bounce back in the second Test against England, the absence of key players presents a test of resilience for the team. Fans will be eager to see how the new additions to the squad contribute as India looks to level the series in Vizag.
