Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena assumes the position of Chief of Staff of the Eastern Naval Command, stationed in Visakhapatnam

1st August 2023 Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena took over the position of ‘Chief of Staff of the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam’ which previously was ruled by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan.

Sameer Saxena is a renowned officer who has already worked as a direction specialist. He worked as the navigation officer outside of the Aircraft carrier INS Viraat and as an important navigation officer of INS Kuthar, Godavari, and Delhi. He also served as the Executive Officer of INS Mumbai. Also, he has guided Mauritian Coast Guard Ship Guardian, Indian Naval Ships Kulish as well as Mysore.

He has done his studies at National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and the Naval War College in Newport, USA.

He also worked in Fleed operation officer at the Western Fleet and served by Doctorate of Foreign Cooperation at IHQ MOD(N) (Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, Naval). Sameer Saxena was the assistant chief of naval staff at IHQ MOD then he took charge of the western Fleet. Before joining the chief of staff of the Eastern Naval he served as the Flag officer and commanding Gujrat.

He has honored with an honorable prize at Naval War College in the USA. He received a Nau Sena Medal in 2017 and also Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2023 from the President of India.

The Ex-Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan will serve as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) at Headquarters Integrated Defence Services in New Delhi.
