Visakhapatnam is gearing up for the prestigious Milan-2024 events scheduled from February 19 to 27 with a major beautification project underway along the beach area. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is taking the lead on this initiative, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for participants from 50 countries.
GVMC Commissioner Saikanth Verma, along with naval officers Captain Diwakar and Coastal Battery Officer Manoj Kumar, inspected the site on Wednesday. Emphasizing the significance of creating an appealing environment, Verma highlighted key aspects of the beautification project. These include repairing roads along RK Beach Road, painting walls, removing rust from electrical poles, and installing aesthetically pleasing lighting.
Verma also directed chief engineers to mark zebra crossings, map out parking areas, and oversee ongoing road widening and footpath works from Green Park to Seven Hills Hospital. He emphasized the importance of increasing greenery along the beach road, with plans to introduce beautiful plants in the area.
Separately, key official Indira Priyadarshini inspected ongoing development works at the municipal stadium. She emphasized the need for timely completion, setting a deadline of 15 days for the projects.
The beautification project aims to enhance the appeal of Visakhapatnam’s beach area, creating a vibrant and attractive space for locals and visitors alike. With diligent efforts from GVMC officials and collaboration with naval officers, the city is poised to showcase its charm during the upcoming Milan-2024 events.
