Visakhapatnam's Floating Bridge: Safety Measures in Place

Visakhapatnam’s newly constructed floating bridge at RK Beach is undergoing thorough safety checks by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) ahead of its opening to beachgoers and tourists. The bridge, which is 100 meters long and three meters wide, has a unique design where a quarter of it rests on land while the remainder extends over the sea.

VMRDA joint commissioner V. Ravindra, speaking with Deccan Chronicle, revealed that a seven-day trial run has been scheduled for the floating bridge. To ensure safety, 10 trained lifeguards will be stationed along the bridge, equipped with 350 life jackets for visitors to wear while on the bridge. Additionally, boats and lifebuoys will be available, and a team of four swimmers will monitor every 10 individuals allowed on the bridge.

Ravindra expressed confidence in the safety protocols adopted, emphasizing the importance of the trial run to test these protocols before opening the bridge to the public next week. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for beachgoers and tourists visiting RK Beach.
